Connecting in spiritual community,
we celebrate life with joy
grow in compassion
Welcome to the Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady
We are a liberal religious community, welcoming people of all ages, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities and physical abilities to our inclusive congregation. Our members have many different spiritual beliefs; we are bound, not by a common creed, but by our shared commitment to a religion that celebrates freedom, tolerance and reason. We welcome newcomers to join with us as we worship, sing, play, teach, study, and work for social justice together.
Sunday March 1, 10:30AM, at the Doane Stuart School, 199 Washington Ave. Rensselaer
Crossing the Bridge to Selma
Rev. Mark Morrison-Reed, author of The Selma Awakening (no service at the UUSS church)
Featuring the combined Capital Region UU choirs. Join UUs from across the Capital Region as we worship together and commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the voting rights marches in Selma, Alabama. In March 1965, when Martin Luther King, Jr. called, hundreds of white UUs across the nation responded and traveled to Selma — and two of them were murdered there. These events were a turning point for both our faith and our nation. How did these events change us, and how can we bridge the gaps that still divide us in 2015?
